Edite Martins Alberto, Principal Investigator
Holds a PhD degree in Early Modern History (Universidade do Minho, 2011) and a master degree in Discoveries and Modern Portuguese History (NOVA FCSH, 1994) with dissertations on the study of the ransoming of Portuguese captives in North Africa during early Modern Age. Integrated researcher since 2012 at the CHAM - Centre for the Humanities, a research unit of the NOVA FCSH and Universidade dos Açores. Collaborated in research projects related to the study of the Portuguese presence in Morocco from the 16th to the 18th centuries (NOVA FCSH and UMinho) and was curator of the exhibition “Between the Cross and the Crescent - the rescue of captives” in the National Archives of Torre do Tombo (2018). Currently, works at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Lisbon City Council where he has dedicated himself to the study, transcription, and publication of documentary sources. Has experience as a researcher and published works in the areas concerning dissemination of archival heritage and history of the Portuguese presence in Morocco.
