The MOVING CITY research project aims to identify the personnel that made up the military force that D. Sebastião led to the battle of Alcácer Quibir, based on the analysis of the chronicles and documents of the Order of the Holy Trinity, responsible for the rescue of the prisoners of the Battle

This 2nd workshop intends to continue the sharing of knowledge initiated in the previous event, based on the communication presented by the MOVING CITY project team, by its scientific consultants and invited researchers.

REVISITING THE BATTLE OF KSAR EL-KEBIR

The workshop, which took place 444 years after the Battle of Alcácer Quibir (4 August 1578), constituted a space for sharing knowledge in relation to the work in progress in the MOVING CITY research project. From the analysis of the chronicles and documents of the Ordem da Santíssima Trindade, responsible for the rescue of prisoners from the Battle of Alcácer Quibir, the project aims to identify the effectives that made up the army, in the sense of knowing the social reality that constituted the force military that King D. Sebastião took to battle, an authentic “city in motion”. The communications, presented by the MOVING CITY project team, its external consultants and invited researchers, were followed by a debate, open to all interested parties who wanted to participate.
